THE FIELD GUIDE

A little preparation. A much better story.

Practical starting points for making your first multilingual video, and useful habits for every one after it.

GUIDE 01

Make a tutorial worth following.

A clear script and useful chapter notes make editing easier.

  1. Open Record, choose screen or camera, and add an optional script. Start recording only after choosing the browser permissions and microphone you need.
  2. Mark a chapter when you start each new step. Review the chapter names and download your guide after recording.
  3. Review the description before uploading. Your script is private unless you explicitly include it in the guide.
GUIDE 02

Start with a strong source.

Better source material makes every later decision easier.

  1. Use the clearest source video you have. Listen for background music, overlapping voices and muffled dialogue.
  2. Upload a video you own or have permission to translate and share. Check consent for recognizable people and their voices.
  3. Give it a useful title so each language version is easy to find in your library.
GUIDE 03

Choose how far to take it.

Match the workflow to the way people will watch.

  1. Use translated captions when keeping the original performance matters, or when your audience watches with sound off.
  2. Choose dubbed audio when people need to listen in their preferred language. Select a narrator that suits the content.
  3. Start with one target language, review the result, then expand to others. Different languages can need different timing.
GUIDE 04

Give the result a human review.

Small details can make a big difference to understanding.

  1. Check names, numbers, specialist terms and culturally specific phrases. For important content, ask a fluent speaker to review.
  2. Watch and listen together. Look for sentences that feel rushed, gaps that feel awkward and captions that are hard to read.
  3. Use lip sync only when footage is suitable, then inspect face movement and scene transitions before sharing. AI output can contain errors.
GUIDE 05

Make the handoff feel simple.

One completed video can live in several places.

  1. Enable an unlisted link when the video is ready. Anyone with that link can open it; keep sensitive content private.
  2. Open the watch page and test its language and caption controls on both desktop and mobile.
  3. Copy the embed into your website if needed. Turn sharing off or replace the link when access should change.
  4. Use Your channel to publish a collection. Choose each video explicitly, review the public content, then publish. Unpublish to revoke channel access.
